Video installation Utrecht

Together with Mike Engelsman, Jessica Dreu and Joel Heyl we made a video installation in the city Utrecht. We found a spot in the middle of the center. A peacefull quiet area in the middle of the streets which are filled with sound.
We decided to make an installation what makes the contrast stronger between the sound of the city and almost completely silence. We wanted to show people that in the middle of the hectic there always can be a peacefull place, even in the center.

The installation was split in two parts. One portal where the viewer needs to walk trough. This portal stands for the hectic of the city. There is a lot of noise and al the images are of the madness from the town. The second part of the installation is behind the portal. This part stands for the quite place. Slow and peacefull images of the town.

Electronic Humans

We had to make a live music video with projections and integrate an object of choice in it. My friend (Suzanne van Dongen) and I chose to integrate ourselves into the projections.
Subject: The human body with it's organs and bones versus technology.

Song: Front Line Assembly - Predator (collide remix)

The Victim

'The victim' is a video installation wich I made with Sarah Kuipers.
We built an electric cha
ir with 2 screens in it. One at the backrest what shows the portraits of victims by rape, maltreatment, etc. The other screen was placed on the seat which shows a diary from the victims where they have writing their story.

The electric chair stands for a punishment of a lifetime and sentence, but our attention lies on the victims instead of offender. They will get their punishment and then they are done with it. But the victims are damaged for a lifetime (The electric chair).

The chair was placed on a small altar in a small room. Surrounded by white screens. And on the right the diary, that is shown on the seat, that stands on a standard. The whole time you hear an unpleasant sound.

De Tijd

A visualisation of the poem 'de Tijd' on two screens. I wanted to communi
cate the mood and feelings that I got from the poem to the viewer.

Tijd

Ik droomde, dat ik langzaam leefde…
langzamer dan de oudste steen.
Het was verschriklijk: om mij heen
schoot alles op, schokte of beefde,
wat stil lijkt. ‘k Zag de drang wa
armee
de bomen zich uit de aarde wron
gen
terwijl ze hees en hortend zongen;
terwijl de jaargetijden vlogen
verkleurende als regenbogen…
Ik zag de tremor van de zee,
zijn zwellen en weer haastig slink
en,
zoals een grote keel kan
drinken.
En dag en nacht van korte duur
vlammen en doven: flakkrend vuur.
- De wanhoop en de welsprekendheid
in de gebaren van de dingen,
die and
ers star zijn, en hun dringen,
hun ademloze, wrede strijd…
Ho
e kon ik dat niet eerder weten,
niet beter zien in vroeger tijd?
Hoe moet ik het weer ooit vergeten
?

Me in the movie Big Fish

Our assignment was to put ourselves in an existing movie. To do this we had to film ourselves in front of a blue screen. The movie I picked was Big Fish from Tim Burton. I played a little girl who wanted to comfort her mother.

The making of:

The basement

We had to make a short trailer or title sequence. I found some footage that was filmed just for practise and fun and got the idea to make a trailer of a movie that just doesn't exist.
